Description: This vintage new old stock NOS Poison bottle label set from Withrow's Pharmacy features (1) Laudanum and (1) Carbolic Acid label. The off white labels are made of paper and were produced in the United States. They are perfect for collectors of medicine bottles or those interested in the history of pharmacy advertising. The labels are from the early 1900s and are great examples of the art and design of the time. The topic of the labels is Poison & Opium, making them a unique addition to any collection. *Edit - pictures of labels under black light. The paper shows no fluorescent, which you see with modern papers. Laudanum was controlled or restricted after 1914. The paper, printing and font are consistent with paper items from circa 1900. Color Lithography: This technique was used to create most postcards, tobacco cards, and movie posters between the 19th and 20th centuries. Color lithography includes both handmade prints where the artist etches the print on the plate or dot lithography which is a more modern technique. The handmade prints can most be identified by the fact that they look like watercolor paintings. Stipple dots, small dots used for shading, are also a key indicator that the item is a lithograph print. These labels look like one-color watercolors and use stipple dots for shading. The Laudnum label is 2 5/8" x 1 3/4". The Carbolic Acid label is 2 3/4" x 1 5/8". There is glue on the backs.
