Description: This vintage Russian lacquer brooch is a true masterpiece. Handmade in the early 1990s, Purchased after the fall of Communism. About 5 years after Reagan told Gorbachev to "tear down this wall". Capitalism among the people was just beginning. Artists were selling their artwork along the street in front of stores that were not yet opened. This brooch features a beautiful floral design on black lacquer with a red foil underlay. It also features a beautiful gold scroll like design around the edge. Beyond the gold is a deep green with gold sparkles at the tips of the "fluting". The attention to detail is amazing. The beauty is in the details.. The brooch is round with what I would call fluting (which might not be the correct term) and has been signed by the artist, making it a one-of-a-kind piece. It is difficult to capture the true red color and shine of the foil. The brooch is in its original, new condition, and has never been worn.
