Vintage Pyrex Flameware Glass Percolator Rare Slim Tall 7759-H 6 Cup Complete

Description: This Corning, NY-made Pyrex Flameware glass, 6-cup percolator most likely dates to circa WWII. It is an unusual, slender model, that uses parts that are not interchangeable with most, or any other, Pyrex models. It is 8 inches tall and only 4.5 inches wide at mid-urn. These features indicate that this percolator is very old, and scarce: *Thicker, heavier glass than was used later in production. *Unusual tall, slim profile. *Glass handle is stamped 7756-H A-36The handle MAY be the same part number as the 9-cup Pyrex, but this unit is 6 cups at best. *All parts are numbered. This practice fell away as production went on in later years. *The basket strainer does not have a perforated aluminum spreader top on this model. The underside of the glass lid presses snugly to the top of the glass basket for a tight seal, making a second lid unnecessary. * The stainless strap that holds the handle to the urn has a very thoughtful quick-release hasp for when you want to take it apart for periodic cleansing. No screwdrivers needed. On later models the handy quick-release had disappeared. CONDITION: My photos make the lightly tinted glass look much bluer than it actually is. There is one small flake of glass off the bottom, inside edge of the lid, which fits inside the lip of the urn, (last photo). Nearly impossible to see. There is a pattern of hot water etching to the underside of the pump base. There are a few etches on the underside of the base from 80 years of being placed on a burner or electric element. NOTE: For use on electric ranges, PYREX recommended the use of a wire heat diffuser between percolator and electric burner. And never heat any percolator empty. Thanks for looking!
