Description: ***********FOR PARTS/REPAIR - The Sicura stamped Baumgartner 158 31/7 automatic movement runs for a few seconds at a time only after the watch has been spun face down. Because the crown is missing I'm unable to test whether or not the day and date wheels roll over....assume they don't. At a minimum a complete overhaul is required.***********This vintage 1970's Cordura Sea-Gull, which came from the estate of an old-school watchmaker, has under the damaged crystal what appears to be a near pristine blue satin "T SWISS MADE T" signed dial. Majority, if not all, of the imperfections seen are on the crystal. The lume, which remains fully intact and emits a faint, short-lived glow on only the minute and hour hands after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. The black fat font bezel shows wear and rotates smoothly bidirectionally. The chrome-plated case shows honest wear with no visible signs of brassing. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "STAINLESS STEEL BACK WATER-RESISTANT SWISS MADE" with "BASE METAL BEZEL" stamped along the inner edge. The crystal needs to be replaced. The 17 jewels unadjusted Swiss "SICURA SA" and "BREVETS" stamped Baumgartner 158 31/7 automatic movement runs for a few seconds at a time only after the watch has been spun face down. Because the crown is missing I'm unable to test whether or not the day and date wheels roll over...assume they don't. At a minimum a complete overhaul is required. This watch measures approximately 42 mm excluding the tube and approximately 20 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 11 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 13 mm.
