The basketweave pattern is reminiscent of Belleek ceramics. Japanese ceramics in the mid-20th century frequently were designed in imitation of popular, more expensive European ceramic wares and I believe this falls into that grouping from Japan. Marked MADE IN JAPAN on the underside of the base in black.
