Description: This is the playback tone arms from a Federal disc cutter/record lathe. It is a generic tone arm that was also used in many record players in the 1940's and 50's. It is bakelite, meaning it's quite a bit lighter than the similar style steel arms. The cartridge is installed but I am assuming it is a crystal cartridge and likely not working, but then again, I've seen some of them continue to function. I did connect the cartridge to a small amplifier and could just barely hear needle scratching sounds, but it doubt it's enough output to actually play a record, so plan on installing the cartridge of your choice. There are many options available. I've been trying to decide if it's black or very dark brown, and I'm going with very dark brown. The arm is 10 5/8 inches long from tip to end (to counting the needle holding screw) and it's about 8 1/4 inches from the pivot point to the needle. I'll include a couple steel needles for testing the cartridge, etc. You'll also get the original arm rest onto which the tone arm clips in at the hole in the borrow of the arm. the pivot is intact and ready to use. If you've got a couple holes in your record player, you're ready to install! Will ship via Priority Mail in the USA and with eBay global shipping program if you're out of the USA. This is about 70 years old. Be nice to it and it will last another 70. No returns.
