Description: Louis Vuitton brown Monogram coated canvas Mini Papillon pochette bag with gold-tone hardware, brown Taiga leather lining, tan Vachetta leather trim and strap with clasp, zip top closure. Designer: Louis Vuitton, Type: Papillion Mini Pochette, Material: Brown Monogram, Coated Canvas & Leather, Dimensions: 6.0” x 2.5” x 2.5”/15.2 cmx 6.4cmx 6.4cm. Condition: Shows wear. Note also that pre mid 1980s, Louis Vuitton did not stamp their name inside so versions of this bag with the name inside are newer. My sister evidently used this quite a bit till she bought another vintage .. she noted that this is from the 70s, she purchased the chain after she had purchased it preowned in the 90s and used it for a few decades that’s why it looks vintage but it Did Not come with this originally... it just had the thin strap and clasp with two leather pieces attached to either side, one tab is off, it is inside if you want repaired… it works well the way she has it set up with a leather cord attached to D-Ring for clasp… she used as crossbody cash bag. Please not the last few pics where I showed the zipper separation … it’s a bit less than an inch … ironically it zips back and forth rather smoothly. The original Papillon is designed by Henri Racamier, the husband of Louis Vuitton’s great granddaughter. He launched the bag in 1966 and it has been popular ever since. It was sold with the mini inside as a pouchette. The French word “Papillon” means butterfly. The design of the full size bag, supposedly, is inspired by a butterfly. The shape of the bag is circular, representing the body of a butterfly, while the two handles look like the wings.
