Each stamp depicted each state's official bird and flower. The state birds were painted by artist Arthur Singer and the state flowers were painted by his son Alan Singer. The standard First Day of Issue cancel was for Washington, DC as the nation's capitol. ( 4/14/82) Cancels were also made available from each of the 50 State Capital's with a stylized pictorial cancel from the capital city (also 4/14/82). These cancels were much less common.
