Description: Asian Straw Art Picture On Black Mat Wood Bamboo Style Frame Buyer will receive three (3) hand-crafted, framed, Asian style pictures. These works art, although they may appear to be matted, are not. The appearance of matting is the work of the artist with gold paint. Each picture is made of various natural plant materials such as possibly bamboo, wheat, straw, etc, which has been expertly and tediously cut and joined before then being mounted on a black background. My guess is that the background material is likely some form of art board. As for the subject matter of the pictures, each shows a different Asian scene. And each required amazing talent and time. With the exception of the large picture, which has been enhanced by hand painting, most of the natural materials are just that: natural in color. Obviously these pictures are not ancient, and probably not technically antique just yet. Still, if I am correct as to the date they were framed (approx. 1950) in only another 25 years or so they will become one-hundred years old. That said, the technique used in making this type of art is ancient, dating back to at least the Tang Dynasty some 600 to 900 years ago and possibly older yet. The frames and the non-reflective glass appear to be in excellent condition. The frames are of a bamboo design and finished in the manner of antique aged bronze/gold.
