The Penguin Guide to Jazz Recordings is now firmly established as the world's leading guide to recorded jazz, a mine of fascinating information and a source of insightful – often wittily trenchant – criticism. For this completely revised ninth edition, Richard Cook and Brian Morton have reassessed each artist's entry, and updated the text to incorporate thousands of additional CDs. The result is an endlessly browsable companion that will prove required reading for aficionados and jazz novices alike.14,000 CDs reviewed2,000 new discs in this editionOver 400 new artist listings'It's the kind of book that you'll yank off the shelf to look up a quick fact and still be reading two hours later' Fortune'Part jazz history, part jazz Karma Sutra with Cook and Morton as the knowledgeable, urbane, wise and witty guides ... This is one of the great books of recorded jazz; the other guides don't come close' Irish Times. From the family collection we're clearing at present. I don't think this book has been read, no creasing to the spine. It has been in a bookcase since purchase and to be fussy there are minor signs of "shelf wear" I noted when I came to list. The outside & top edge of the closed book block show some small light marks and the last two blank end papers had folded near the binding, I've straightened them now and no damage of any nature... and that's about it as far as I can see. Clean and tightly bound. Please be aware this book is 16 years old and may show the odd signs of the passsage of time. It has been decided that I'm the lucky one, nominated to dispose of a large collection of books that have been in our family for many years. We've also moved recently and I've made up my mind to make (some) inroads into our own collection of books. Some weird and wonderful titles, many very rare, particularly from the family library. I'll be listing them whenever time allows. Please keep dipping into the listings as I'm working my way through a large assortment of different books (and some other small/postable items). Any book dealers/collectors that would be interested in offering on a number of books, in one lot, then I will always do my best to shave the price by as much as possible. This would only apply to books listed as B.I.N. (I'll let the auctions run to give a fair chance to anyone interested). Please just get in touch with a list of what you're interested in and I'll get back to you with a price...same day in most cases. Thank you. I have given what I consider to be a fair and accurate description but if you have any questions at all about anything, please just ask.....before bidding. Please study the large images above to get an idea of the condition of the item........as usual any questions I am very happy to respond. Book(s) will always be carefully packed. I always obtain a proof of posting from the Post Office when your item(s) is/are dispatched.
