Description: The Manual of Church Decoration and Symbolism by Rev. Ernest Geldart A. R. Mowbray & Co., London, 1899.Hardcover first edition. A beautifully illustrated guide to the symbols and emblems of the Church.Geldart "was the most distinguished and prolific of the 'priest architects' who flourished in the nineteenth century. A High Churchman, he combined his clerical career with that of architect, mostly but not exclusively of ecclesiastical buildings, and was particularly known as an expert on church furnishing and decoration.'' Condition is Good, with the front board having some splitting of the front hinge. It looks like someone tried to do some sort of repair there at one point. Other than that the white illustrated boards are in good shape and the content is clean and unmarked. Quite a find!
