Notes An essential guide to the geography of Middle-Earth, from its founding in the Elder Days, as recounted in The Silmarillion, to the Third Age of The Lord Of The Rings. With hundreds of maps and diagrams. Author Biography Karen Wynn Fonstad was a noted cartographer and geography lecturer whose admiration for J.R.R. Tolkiens books resulted in the first serious attempt to create a coherent atlas of Middle-earth in 1981. This was fully revised ten years later to accommodate Tolkiens expanding legendarium following the publication of nine volumes of The History of Middle-earth, and this third edition followed in 2001. Although Karen Wynn Fonstead died in 2005, her Atlas of Tolkiens Middle-earth remains the most ambitious and exhaustive book on the subject. Review Absolutely indispensable… in its scope and coverage it is a masterful work, a fitting monument to the talents and imagination of the cartographer and of the man who invented these lands– Mythprint Promotional The essential guide to the geography of the world of The Lord of the Rings Review Quote e~Absolutely indispensablee Feature 200 col illus * An indispensable reference book for all Tolkien lovers * Contains a wealth of detail not available anywhere else * Provides a key to understanding Tolkiens work and his grand design * New enlarged format for easier reference Details ISBN0008194513 Author Karen Wynn Fonstad Pages 224 ISBN-10 0008194513 ISBN-13 9780008194512 Format Paperback Place of Publication London Country of Publication United Kingdom Media Book DEWEY 823.912 Year 2017 Publication Date 2017-06-15 Language English UK Release Date 2017-06-15 Illustrations 200 col illus, Index Publisher HarperCollins Publishers Audience General AU Release Date 2017-08-08 NZ Release Date 2017-08-08 Imprint HarperCollins We've got this At The Nile, if you're looking for it, we've got it.
