Description: Seaboard Air Line Railroad (SAL) Motorcar No. 2028 leading Train No. 81, Tampa to Venice, in Sarasota, Florida in March 1966. From the Roger Puta Collection. The Seaboard Air Line Railroad owned two motorcars, numbered 2027 and 2028. They were built by the St. Louis Car Company in 1936 and both were powered by eight cylinder 201-A Winton diesel engines. No. 2027 was destroyed in 1957 at a grade crossing accident, however, No. 2028 (later SCL 4900) ran in Florida until the Amtrak era. This 4 x 6 color photo is a brand-new and printed on glossy photo paper, and sent from a smoke-free environment. Be sure to see my other listings as many railroad photos are available. Thank you!
