Description: Royal Tara Set of 6 Pieces Tara Brooch Cups Saucers 2 Small Plates MINT For consideration is this set of 6 pieces of vintage Royal Tara fine bone chine made in Ireland in their Tara Brooch pattern. I believe this to be a “Tea for Two” set. There are 2 sets of cups and saucers and 2 small plates. These are stunning, light to hold and the background is white. Each piece features the beautiful Celtic design brooch in gold, blue and red. The cups are fancy, similar to the “shelly” shape, with substantial gold accents around the rim, the flat base and the curved handles. These measure 2¼ inches tall, the handle is 2½ inches tall, the mouth measures 3½ inches in diameter and the base measures 1 5/8 inches in diameter. The saucers have a lovely embossed hexagon (6-sided) shape and are quite deep. They measure 5½ inches from top to bottom and 5 1/8 inches from side to side. The square plate measures 5 inches long by 5 inches wide. I think this might well serve as a cookie plate. You could probably get a few small cookies on there! The oval plate measures 3¾ inches tall and 4¾ inches from handle to handle. I think this might well serve as a lemon server plate. Would you like some lemon for your tea? While their shamrock design never went out of fashion, they introduced a new Book of Kells-inspired pattern called Royal Treasure which has become collectible. In the early 2000s, the Royal Tara factory closed its doors. However, the company continues to design several lines of china which are produced outside of Ireland and include the Clara Ceramics and Islandcraft labels.
