Rare Antique Vintage 46cm French F. Lejeune Paris Rondeau Stockpot Casserole

Description: Large early 20th century French hammered copper rondeau pan A rare find, this particular piece has the mark of quality for F. Lejeune, 76 Rue Vaneau, Paris. It also bears the letters JMD, probably the initials of the original chef owner. The bronze handles are firmly fixed with oversized copper rivets and the pan is tin lined. Approx. dimensions - 46cm dia x 15cm deep width including handles 58cm rim - 2.5 - 3mm weight - 9.9kg The casserole’s elegant French style and period architecture make it a charming piece for display or practical use. This rondeau is an authentic French piece from the early 20th century, perfect for those who appreciate the beauty and history of classic metalware. In good condition with marks and wear associated with years of use in a professional kitchen. Each base edge beneath the handles is rounded off where the chef would have tossed the food on the stovetop. This adds a story and character to the wonderful pan.The tin lining is darker grey in places which happens through use. There is one small area of copper bleed as shown in the photos.Originally hammered, this has worn very low from years of cleaning and polishing, but is still lightly visible in the patina.
