Description: This set of six pottery demitasse cups and saucers was made in France in the early 1900's. They're hand thrown and hand painted with the cheery yellow of sunny Provence, decorated with leafy greens that represent one of the hundreds of wild plants that grow there. The edges of the saucers and cups are painted with a green sawtooth design. The bottoms of all twelve pieces are hand stenciled in green with the single word "France." This is casual pottery so, unlike fine china, it's a bit rough. There are lumps of clay, glaze pops and dents in the clay made during production, along with raw stilt marks on the bottoms of the saucers. There are also small rim chips on three of the cups that are shown in one of our photos. The 2 1/8 inches tall cups hold 2 ounces and sit on saucers 5 1/4 inches in diameter; each pair weighs 10 ounces.
