This species has an interesting historical background as 17th Century priests assigned great religious significance to the unique structure of the flower. The vine grows lush and dense. The unique flowers appear profusely throughout the warm season in shades of white, cream, and deep purple. A lightly sweet, deep eggplant colored fruit follows the flower.
