After in 1990, the events of February are perceived as a transition from external democracy to totalitarianism, which led to the annexation of Czechoslovakia to the Soviet power bloc, foreshadowed the subsequent oppression of a significant part of Czech and Slovak society and became the cause of the country's economic decline and a huge wave of emigration of the population (Wiki). The 26th Congress of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia was a congress of the then ruling Communist Party of Czechoslovakia held in the Czechoslovakia during the normalization period of 1981.The convention took place on April 6-10, 1981. It took place in Prague, in the newly built Palace of Culture. Gustav Husak was elected general secretary of the party, Miroslav Capka became chairman of the Central Control and Review Commission. Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev attended the congress as an honored guest. The congress was an expression of the stability of the normalization regime (Wiki).
