Description: This is one of Ansel Adam's most famous photographs! It is in the original frame as purchased at the gallery and is perfect condition. It is signed in the lower left corner on the back "Inscribed Ansel Adams Yosemite 6-28-81". (Ansel sadly passed away in April of 1984)I spoke with Matthew Adams at the Ansel Adams Gallery in Yosemite Valley, and he said that the ordinary "signed prints" would have been signed on the face. The fact that this one was signed on the back confirmed that it was purchased in person at the gallery on a day that Ansel happened to personally be there, and that he would have signed it by request of the patron. The main marking in the center of the back further confirms the provenance of the print, and that it was printed by Alan Ross under Ansel's supervision, and is initialed with a stylized "AR" by Alan. The third marking in the upper left corner is dated 7-8-81 and is a personal gift message from "Annie", gifting the artwork to "John". During the quarantine I stored the photo for John as he was leaving the country to adventure abroad and could not take it along. Now he's back and asked if I would sell it for him. I brought the photo to Antiques Roadshow a few weeks ago when they were in town. The photograph expert there assured me that it was indeed authentic and in excellent condition and estimated that its value was somewhere in the $5000 to $6000 range.
