The boards have a tilt to the front, minor bumping on the corners a light shelf-wear on the edges and corners. The binding is still solid and the top edge stain has faded. The inner front end-sheet also has a number of peeling marks and brittle glue residue. The outer page edges also show some tanning from age and a hint of dust spotting. Otherwise the page interiors are without marks or tears. Published in 1976 by Knopf, this is the Hardcover 1st Edition, 1st Printing of Michael Crichton's Eaters of the Dead, which is the basis for the popular movie, The Thirteenth Warrior, and the book itself is an adaption of a real historical manuscript of Ibn Fadlan, and includes a references section at the end with primary and secondary source information. As a bonus, the last reference is HP Lovecraft's fictional book The Necronomicon, listing Abdul Azhared as the author (an alternate spelling of "The Mad Arab, Abdul Alhazred", often referred to in Lovecraft's fiction as the author of the supposed Necronomicon). It has the original $6.95 price on the inner front flap of the dust jacket and there is a "First Edition" notation on the copyright page and a full number line to 1, indicating a 1st printing.
