Description: Messages: The Best Of OMD (CD/DVD) ‐‐‐--‐------------‐----------------- This is the compilation "Best Of" of Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD). OMD are most weĺl known for their Electro-Synth New Wave sound of the early-1980s. Formed in 1978, OMD consisted of the founding duo and principal songwriters Andy McCluskey (vocals, bass guitar) and Paul Humphreys (keyboards, vocals), along with Martin Cooper (keyboards, saxophone) and Stuart Kershaw on drums. Through this era their song Enola Gay from 1980 because a staple on (then) mostly chart music radio stations and radio stations that played that genre of music 24/7. Even up to now (December 2024) the song gets a lot of air play still, especially on 1980s music stations and genuine Greatest Hits radio stations. Even if you're not aware of OMD very well you will recognise most of these hits. Most of their early hits that are most recognisable are from their 1981 album Architecture & Morality. They had four more albums during the 1980s and released their first compilation "The Best Of OMD" in 1988. In 1991 they scored a very big hit with Sailing On The Seven Seas from the 1991 album Sugar Tax. That track was followed up by a very a song called Pandora's Box, also from 1991. Unless you watch the video for this track you won't know that it was written about the silent movie actress Louise Brooks and the less glamorous side of being an actress. The song is named after the 1929 film Pandora's Box which she starred in. Andy McCluskey wrote this song. He's sure got an eye for the pretty women. This video is on the DVD that's combined with the CD. The DVD is Region 0 which means it'll play anywhere on any machine. The DVD has more tracks on it than the CD. The audio on the DVD is LPCM so should sound a lot better that the usual Dolby Digital. The LPCM track is 2.0 stereo and not 5.1 surround sound. The CD/DVD are Mint. the cover booklet seems almost "Like New" and just has a few marks on it and the Jewel case is a little bit scratched from where it's been used a lot. Although it says I don't except returns, obviously I do if the item is faulty in anyway or the item was described incorrectly.
