The actual FFCs require no soldering but you will have to solder the newly designed headers. We have included OEM JKL Bi-Pin lamps (4 pieces) just in case your lamps need replacing. Literature with simple instructions included. New Design and Configuration: The kit is an upgrade to the older cable and header configuration. The new cable is a 2.54 Flat Flexible Cable that is easily inserted into the new headers supplied. Once the new headers are installed, there is never a need to desolder the flat cable in the future as it is a simple pull and insert operation. Note: The new cable is not compatible with the original header and the cable end cannot be soldered onto the lamp board by itself. You must use the new headers provided with the new cable. History: During the late 1970s early 1980s, Gore Industries supplied McIntosh Labs the spiked through hole end 7 pin cable for the MA6200 production. Although innovative at the time, materials in manufacturing of this cable were found decades later to prematurely decay with resulting severe delamination. Many unable to find a replacement cable were forced to come up with their own designs that were inconsistent to the original design. The original spiked end cable required one end to be soldered to the Lamp Board and the other end inserted into an older version spiked end header. New FFCs Construction Data: Voltage rating @ 300V, conductors are copper tin plating, UL flame rating VW1, dielectric strength 5000v, insulation resistance 5000M ohms, blue end stiffener added to assist compression within the component board headers and most importantly the polyester insulation with a temperature operating rage of -67° F to 225° F New OEM JKL Lamps: JKL is the original OEM supplier to McIntosh.
