Description: A fine early Masons Patent Ironstone chinoiserie decorated water/milk jug of globular form with a loop handle. Decorated in a rare pattern called " Sacrificial Lamb," depicting seven oriental figures one cradling a lamb. The decoration is printed in black transfer outlines, then hand painted in a free flowing enamel color palette of pink, blue, green, orange/iron red, and cream with red scale. The jug is marked with the early black printed banner and the impressed banner mark. It was produced by the Masons factory at Lane Delph, Staffordshire England, dating from 1813-1820. This is the larger of two I have listed. The smaller has a gilt rim. This one shows no traces of gilt. The condition is excellent, showing only very minor paint flaking and the usual Masons glaze imperfections. No chipping, cracks, crazing, or repairs. The jug measures 6" high, and app. 6" diameter including handle. Free Shipping !!!!!
