Description: This is a variety lot of small antique bottles. The first is a round bottom "torpedo" bottle. It had a cork stopper (not present), is clear green, and embossed "V.P. 1/4" on the bottom. The vp stands for a maker or product and the 1/4 for the volume. It holds about 8 oz full so that would be 1/4 of a qt. This was a wine bottle and a rounded bottom would make the bottle lay flat keeping the cork moist. Next is a Nujols bottle with a screw top. Nujols was developed as a mineral oil cure all, and when it was first introduced William Rockefeller claimed it would cure cancer. This is a screw top botttle with the top intact. One can still detect the scent of the mineral oil. Nest is an embossed Edison Battery Oil bottle. Last are 2 apothecary bottles for medicine. I don't know what the medicine was. Both are corked bottles. The first does not have the cork and is embossed "3iii" meaning 3 oz. It has a "box O" makers mark for Owens. The last bottle has its cork. It has a brand or trademark of an 8 or 3 or backwards B connected to an R. It is also marked 6 DR. FLUID. A dram is 1/16 oz. This and the Nujols bottle I did not rinse out because they were capped. I just wiped them off. I rinsed the others out. Please feel free to ask questions. Free shipping within the US.
