Description: Interesting piece of history. 1881 original Hard cover book. It has two dates: 1880 & 1881. Not sure if it means it was printed again in 1881 or why the two dates are there. Book is clean w/a personal name tag inside front cover. Lots of foxing. Book is complete, though binding is starting to fail, Cover front, back & spine are attached but lose from binding. Pages are attached to interior binding. . There is an inscription on front interior blank page to "Earl Brownell" from "His Grandpa S.J. Rundel." I was able to trace Rundel to the First Baptist Church and Society of Athens (Michigan) articles of incorporation in 1861. The note is dated Sept 1883 and ends with "May you become a great good man as Garfield." I was also able to trace Earl Brownell to Athens, Calhoun County, Michigan (Born Nov 26, 1869) in Find a Grave. So he was gifted the book when he was a teen. (He died in Illinois in 1933).
