LARGE WIDE antique c1890 ART NOUVEAU AMERICAN PICTURE FRAME 25 3/4" x 38 1/4"

Description: Large, wide antique American Art Nouveau picture frame, in 4 pieces and unassembled.This rare picture frame has interior measurements of 25 3/4" by 38 1/4".It measures 3 3/4" wide and overall exterior measurements of 32 3/8" by 44 3/4".It is fairly flat, only about 1" deep but broad. Instead of the customary 1/4" rabbet, this rabbet measures 3/8". Lots of room to work with.It is made from wood and gesso. The molded gesso design is stylized leaves on the outside and rows of raised dots on the interior.The color is a rich bronze or a greenish brown and is darker in room light than these photos show as the photos were all taken outside in direct sun.Though there is no glitter in the original finish it has a strong resemblance to metal, bronze metal.The finish has some dark dirt or staining from age but not abuse. Those darker areas actually blend nicely and look good.There is a small amount of small chipping to gesso on outside edges and a couple gesso chips toward the corners.Some cracking to gesso.The pieces are quite straight and not noticeably warped.The condition of the finish, gesso and wood are overall good and strong and this frame presents very well (when assembled).Just needs to be put together and cut to your needs.I put little dots on the back of each corner to help align with where the corners lined up originally as it was held together by newer metal braces screwed into the back corners when I found this.Rare and magnificent American Art nouveau picture frame will work perfectly for any very good painting, print, mirror, etc.The good thing about having this frame in pieces is shipping is cheap, just $35.Questions always welcome and thanks for looking.
