Louis Icart (1888–1950) was a French artist known for his Art Deco-style etchings, particularly those featuring glamorous women, often with a playful or romantic tone. Born in Toulouse, France, Icart started his career in illustration and moved to Paris, where he found success creating fashion illustrations and engravings. His work became highly popular during the 1920s and 1930s, and he gained fame internationally. Icart's pieces often depict women in stylish attire, sometimes with whimsical or suggestive themes. He was particularly skilled in drypoint etching, a technique that allowed for delicate lines and rich textures, enhancing the elegance of his subjects. His work is highly collectible, and his depictions of femininity and Parisian fashion have kept his legacy alive in the art world even after his passing. Chuck Olson CollectionChuck Olson spent over 40 years collecting and traveling the United States in search of unique vintage prints. He was especially interested in prints that were printed for use on calendars in the "Age of the Calendar" from 1900-1960. Please feel free to contact me with any questions about the item.
