Folks, I carried a BAR in my World War II days in the Marine Corps. No weapon was looked upon with as much fervor. It was dependable, reliable, easy to maintain, fast and deadly. I was delighted to find this history of the inventor. As many of you know, I specialize in finding old western stories of long ago that have been overlooked, seldom found and rarely read. Here is the story entitled “A WIZARD WITH GUNS,” by Glen Perkins who recites that John Mose Browning grew up with the smell of gunpowder and the bright gleam of firearms. Pictured is the pioneer gun plant he and his brother founded as it appeared in 1881. Both brothers are pictured. Here is a great history of his accomplishments, inventions and creations, including his innovations for Winchester and Remington and Stevens. Winchester bought his patent to the Model 85 in 1883 after one of his salesmen ran across a model somewhere in Texas. The author goes on to describe his many creative achievements of which his brother commented that he never gave up on anything he tackled and sooner or later he would have the gun he was after. HE WAS A WIZARD WITH GUNS Please read this. There were many a western story published – the common ones about cowboy and Indians are listed on Ebay every day but the rarer ones like this one about one of the greatest gun makers in the world never make it. Collectors treasure them and their price guide value rises every day. They are hard to find. I hunt them out cause really the better, untold and rarer stories were published in the rest. Here’s one of ‘em. Following my retirement, I have dedicated my remaining hours to indexing the Genealogy of our western pioneers. During my research, I discovered that thousands of our kinfolk lay unfound and unrecognized on some book dealer’s shelf gathering dust. Because Old Western History and Memorabilia was printed before computer indexing, I index every item I sell. This complete index will be bound and included in this offering at no additional cost. Humbly, I am trying to keep our history alive. I hope you appreciate the effort.
