Description: J PETERMAN Shirt Mens Button Up, Collar, Long Sleeve, White, Heavy 100% Cotton, XXL Here is a fabulous J. Peterman vintage men's shirt to bring back those 1980's vibes. Made from a 100% heavy cotton fabric - it feels almost canvas-like - the fabric, cut and look of this shirt screams "well-made". The seams on this clean bright white shirt are all doubly sewn, there are two button-able chest pockets, and the collar is no-button, pointed. The shirt measures 34" from the top back collar to the hem, 46" from the top shoulder seam at the front, to the bottom hem, and measures 28" from underarm seam to underarm seam, for a total chest size of 56". Weighs a hefty 15.1 oz prior to shipping, and coming to you in a padded envelope. As for condition, I initially thought this was a brand new shirt without tags, but think it has just rarely been worn, and came to me just back from the dry cleaners - starched, pressed and ready to wear. There is a mark on the bottom left inside button placket that reads, MC FN 2 - likely the previous owners' initials, for the dry cleaners. Read on for a short walk down memory lane... Thanks for the looky-loo! _____________________________________________________________________________________________ If you were of purchasing age in the late 1980's, you know the famous J. Peterman catalog, first published in 1988 with black line, disembodied drawings and scintillating prose (hmmm...). By the next year, they added color to their catalog, which just catapulted its already high demand. I remember clearly, pouring over their catalogs, longing for many of their items, but never having the bucks to purchase anything, sigh.Wiki captures the business so accurately: "Peterman found unique items to sell in the catalog and Staley wrote the product descriptions. Bob Hagel was the first J. Peterman Co. illustrator and art director. He made the decision to draw and paint the clothes from the catalog without bodies, so they appeared like "well-traveled ghosts." The catalog drew the attention of celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Clint Eastwood, and Tom Hanks. The company continued to grow and, in 1995, the TV show Seinfeld debuted J. Peterman as a character played by John O'Hurley. After the character's first appearance, Peterman agreed with Seinfeld’s lawyers that he would approve the scripts in which his fictional part had a role. The J. Peterman Co. also sold movie replicas of the "Heart of The Ocean" necklace from the 1997 film Titanic. The company sold $1 million worth of necklace replicas along with other costume and prop replicas."
