Description: This auction is for a used horse hair or horsehair headstall with leather romel style reins and a vintage high port bit The headstall has a break where the center piece attaches between the ears - see image The top rosettes do not have a hair covering and the two lower rosettes have damage to their covering. All four rosette images are damaged (chipping to interior image) Some stained spots and fraying The high port or cathedral bit has a roller or pacifier - I have found no manufacturer markings Surface rust to bit and rein chains Also the bit is on the small size - see ruler in image for width of mouth Leather Romel style reins show nice signs of age, wear and handling - one small break to breading of single handle where it attaches to loop from reins Obtained at a recent auction - verbally stated during auction that this was a Deer Lodge Montana Prison made headstall circa 1880-1920 - no provenance available beyond that. This unit weighs approximately 3 pounds 0.1 ounces - prior to packaging Please email with any questions prior to bidding. This auction is sold as is. BUYER PAYS SHIPPING.
