Description: Hidden Figures - The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race, by Margot Lee Shetterly. Hardcover with dust jacket, HarperCollins Publishers 2016, first edition seventh printing. Signed bookplate on first free endpaper. While it looks like Shetterly's signature, it has not been authenticated. From the front cover: "During World War II, America's fledgling aeronautics industry hired black female mathematicians to fill a labor shortage. These 'human computers' stayed on to work for NASA and made sure America won the Space Race. They fought for their country's future, and for their share of the American dream. This is their untold story." The book itself is in near-perfect condition: its only flaws are discoloration on bottom page edges and a tiny bump to bottom rear corner. The unclipped dust jacket is very good: no chips or tears; very little wear to edges; a few creases at top and bottom edges. A beautiful book; an incredible story. Since the signature has not been authenticated, the book is priced accordingly.
