Description: George Frideric Handel was born in 1685 in Germany but became a British citizen in 1727 after various stays in England since 1710. He died in 1759 and was buried in the Poet's Corner in Westminster Abbey. He became famous for his Oratorio and wrote the Messiah in 1741. The first performance of this masterwork happened in 1742 in Dublin, Ireland. The Messiah recording in this 3LP Box Set was made by the English Chamber Orchestra and the Ambrosian Singers. Harpsichords and Organ were played by Valda Aveling and Brian Runnett, and the main solo vocalists were Joan Sutherland, Huguette Tourangeau, Werner Krenn, and Tom Krause. The whole production was conducted by Richard Bonynge. To protect this Box Set during shipment I will package it in a 13"x13"x 3/4" carton box. Shipment with USPS Media Mail is included in the price.
