(see photos)....4 binder holes on left side (see photos) Signed "Best wishes George Murphy" Born in New Haven, Connecticut, he attended Yale University, engaged as an actor in New York in 1926 and appeared Broadway shows. In 1935, he moved to Hollywood and appeared in forty-five motion pictures. Some of his film credits included "Top of the Town" (1937), "Tom, Dick and Harry" (1941), "Bataan" (1943), "Show Business" (1944), "Battleground" (1949) and he received and an honorary Academy Award in 1951. He also was the president of the Screen Actors Guild, vice president, Desilu Studios 1958 to 1961 and was chairman of the Republican State Central Committee of California. In 1964, he was elected as a Republican to the US Senate, served until 1971 and was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection. He died of leukemia in Palm Beach, Florida, at age 89.
