This print by Italian artist Nani Tedeschi is untitled and shows the #22 1920s Alfa Romeo race car driven by Enzo Ferrari during his early days as a race driver, before he moved up in the ranks to direct Alfa Romeo's racing division, and ultimately found his own racing team and manufacturing company. Enzo's roots as a race driver are often lost in the shadows of the Ferrari racing legend he founded. Ferrari began working as a test driver in Turin in 1918, and soon moved to Milan to work as a test driver and race driver for CMN (Costruzioni Meccaniche Nazionali). His racing debut was in 1919 at the Parma-Berceto race, and he also entered that year's Targa Florio. In 1920, Enzo moved to the Alfa Romeo race team, working through the ranks from test driver to race driver, then sales assistant and ultimately Director of the Alfa racing division until 1939. Print is from the book, Ferrari e dintorni (Ferrari and Surroundings), beautifully rendered on a smooth, satiny stock, perfect for framing. Italian artist and illustrator, Nani Tedeschi, began his professional life as a physician, and a spare-time artist. But having his work included in several national exhibitions in the late 1960s and early 1970s convinced him to hang up his stethoscope and inhabit full-time a world filled with pen, paints, and paper. Later, he would add sculpture, ceramics, and glass working to his artistic repertoire. Tedeschi has held solo exhibitions around the worldincluding in Vienna, Hamburg, New York, Tokyo, Sao Paoloand of course all over Italy. Tedeschi's fascination with Ferrari began in 1985, and the book, Ferrari e dintorni was published in 1988 by Cassa di Risparmio di Modena. Print is clean and crisp.
