One of her works sold for $3500 at a New Orleans auction in 2017, a 68" x 48" mixed media entitled Pentimento 2. We are offering: MODERNIST ABSTRACT, 1984. Artist's title: Old Men Ought to Be Explorers #3, mixed media on paper, 28-1/2" x 28-1/4" image size, sheet size: 29-1/2" x 30" (framed size: 34" x 34-1/4") titled lower left and signed/dated lower right. Has slipped in the frame and could easily be readjusted by a framer when replacing the glass. Her paintings are layered in color, texture, and medium: this play of surface and depth lends Chandler’s works an almost sculptural quality. Symphonies—layered, expressive, technical—are another comparison which springs to mind. Chandler received her B.A. from Stanford University in Art, minoring in Mathematics and Biological Sciences, and also attended the Art Center College of Design for her postgraduate work. A sense of scientific rigor still shapes her artistic process, and the complexity of her paintings probe the intricacy of the natural world. Chandler currently lives in California, and her recent work takes inspiration from the beauty of the desert landscape.
