None of the four Hines pieces ("Look at Me," "Jive Sugar," "I Do It Better at Night" and "I'll Never Be Alone") would catch on, but they serve as very viable vehicles for lengthy improvisations by Hines, who really stretches out. Although he would turn 71 before the year ended, Hines recorded 15 albums worth of material in 1974, all of which are recommended.
