Description: "DJANGO UNCHAINED" - Written and directed by Quentin Tarantino - Last Draft April 26th 2011, no company name on title page, although it wound up being financed and distributed by the company that was associated with Tarantino from the beginning, The Weinstein Company; 11 x 8.5-inch standard Hollywood screenplay with 3-hole white paper bound tightly by 3 brass bards, no exterior covers (which can be added if you to as they protect the pages), 166 pp., excellent condition. *PLEASE NOTE: This is not the 2012 For Your Consideration Screenplay sent by The Weinstein Company to Motion Picture Academy and Guild Voters as a Best Original Screenplay candidate (There are 2 of those listed on eBay, with protective covers, with a title page absent the note and dated about it being the "Final Draft"). This is a copy I got my hands on when I worked in the industry for an independent production company in 2011, and I've stored it carefully). DJANGO UNCHAINED was QT's most expensive film at $100 million, and it succeeded his international hit INGLORIOUS BASTERDS, which co-starred the German actor Christoph Waltz as Brad Pitt's Nazi antagonist. DJANGO follows the unlikely relationship in 1858 between a slave named Django (Jamie Foxx) and a a German dentist-turned bounty hunter named Dr. Schultz (Waltz). Although Schultz originally frees Django to help him track down 3 wanted brothers working on a slave plantation, they make a deal that in return for Django's help over the course of fall and winter, Schultz will help him rescue his beloved Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), a slave at Candieland, overseen by brutal owner Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his crafty old head of household Stephen (Samuel L. Jackson). It opened Dec. 30, 2012 to $30.1 million in North American and was a big hit ($162.8 million domestic, part of $426.1 million worldwide). It was nominated for 5 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Cinematography and Sound Editing. Tarantino won for Best Original Screenplay and Waltz for Best Supporting Actor. There are no exact matches on eBay, just the 2 2012 For Your Consideration screenplays with white, semi-glossy covers, and less info on the title page). The cheaper one is $68.00 with free shipping, and photos show much cover wear and some staining, with corner curling and some pages that have creased upper tips. The other copy, which looks excellent, is $196.00 + $6.00 shipping. The official For Your Consideration copies are normally more valuable than mine, but my excellent copy with the original title page is definitely a better collectible than the distressed cheaper copy on eBay, listed at $68.00 with free shipping. My Buy-It-Now price of $34.00 includes shipping bubble-wrapped in a cardboard box via media mail, which takes around 7 days with tracking, less in California.
