Description: From our chemical-free home to yours come these fast-growing hybrid willow cuttings! These are incredibly easy to start (directions below), and grow faster than I ever expected them to when I first planted them years ago! Hybrid willows are great for all sorts of purposes, being used medicinally, as windbreaks, to reduce pollution from nearby roads, help to reduce chemical drift from fields, to serve as privacy screens, erosion control, noise reduction, to build willow furniture and baskets.... and I'm sure I've missed some uses! These are grown in various areas of our property and do well all over. However, please do not plant willow near septic fields or building foundations! These have endured during extensive droughts on our property in relatively dry areas, yet also thrive in a ditch that often floods with water. It's not often that I'll ponder whether a plant is a miracle plant.... but I do wonder about these, with how hardy they are. They love their full sun, but also grow fine under the shade of the canopy of our woods. However, they would do best in full sun, or partial sun, and do grow slower in shade. You can allow willow to grow into a tall tree, or keep it pruned as a thick bush. What's your pleasure? It's up for it. For years I cut these all year-round, with no particular rhyme or reason, for my rabbits. The willow was cool with that. You'll receive 50 cuttings, of potentially varying thicknesses, from 1/4" to 2." These will measure around 10" long, but there's no need to be exact. While you can simply stick a cutting in the soil or in damp mulch and see what happens (I've done it, with less success), it's best to root these. Simply place in a mason jar with water covering about half of the cutting, and replace the water every couple of days or so. Soon you'll have roots growing! As to how soon one should plant, it's entirely up to you. How big of a hole do you want to dig? (You also don't want the roots to become root-bound in your jar/ bucket, of course.) Be sure to place with the flat side on the bottom of the glass, though these amazing plants will usually still root regardless of how you might bumble about! Please note that these are not USDA certified, non-GMO certified, and lack any certification whatsoever.
