On "Democratic National Committee" letterhead, Sawyer -- who'd just lost the Ohio gubernatorial race -- comments to this young admirer, "I appreciate your suggestion about the future, although I am making no plans. I think for the time being the Democrats in Ohio would do well to let our political opposition have the center of the stage." Signed boldly.
