Although it comprises the same basic functions, the CU works differently. It not only forwards data to the track, but it also receives data from the track and uses it to improve programming for braking performance, tank capacity and speed (performance). The Control Unit features four hand-throttle sockets, a jack socket for the lap counter, a PC connection and a power socket. The speed controller extension 30348 and the wireless control system can be used with the Control Unit to allow six racers.
