Ca. 1840 English Double Fusee Drop Dial Wall Clock

Description: Very nice 8 Day T&S English Drop Dial Double Fusee in very nice clean cond. This is in really good shape for it's age Case, Movt. and Dial all look great and Mechanism functions as it should. Keeps very good time and it chimes on the hour on it's original coiled gong. The Mahogany Case is flame Mahogany with cross banding and inlay. The original Painted Convex dial is in very good condition and is more white than some of the pics would indicate. Took a lot of pics under differing lighting so some make it look a little yellowed. Early style cast brass bezel.This has an unusual shaped surround as most you will see are round. Movement is the original with nicely shaped plates and has an unusual feature of an adjustable fan to speed up or slow down the strike. the only fault I can see is the fact that I believe the hands are replaced as they are very nicely blued and look the part but Most of these I've seen have been a little thicker in this period.There was a lock on the Surround for the Bezel which is missing however the bezel stays closed without it. I also cant vouch for the glass . While it is Convex and has been in this for some time I can't say in all honesty that it is the original. However it does the job and looks the part. This has some restoration over the years but I can't see anything that doesn't correct or not done correctly. All minor things re: repaired screw holes ect.. Most of these you'll see online are heavily restored as far a the case and the dials are usually repainted with added signatures and are priced in the stratosphere .I encourage you to look online for comparison.
