You can remove it from the receiver plate by pulling up on the tab and sliding it out to place it on the other receiver plate. This makes swapping your gear from one piece of kit, or belt to another with ease. Also, if you purchase additional male insert plates- you can attach them to several different handgun holsters and easily change your gear from one setup to another without removing pieces from your belt or kit.
