Description: BACK AGAIN!! PILOSOCEREUS AZUREUS- There seems to be a great deal of confusion between this and Pilosocereus pachycladus sbsp. pachycladus (F. Ritter) Zappi (1979) 1979 and it seems to be "lumped" in with P. pachycladus often. This species has no wool or hair on younger growth, the spines having a gold or yellow color on new growth, much larger and stronger spines than P. pachycladus. Native to Brazil, from several states, Piaui to Bahia, called "Facheiro" and "Facheiro Azul" in Portuguese there as are the P. pachycladus. Not commonly cultivated by large commercial growers, seems few are growing this species and small plants are seldom available. This tree-like species can reach up to 1 to 10 meters, mature plants have very attractive large white flowers when blooming. One the "bluest" of the columnar cacti, these are very bluish; this species has been compared to a Saguaro in form, but grows much faster. Aprox. 5 to 8inches tall and 1 to 2 inches thick max. A great little plant, the picturted specimen is the one similar to what you are buying. Sent well packed, bare root.
