Description: Up for sale is this Atomstack A5 M40 laser engraver. I obtained it in early 2022, but used it very little since then, so it is in very good condition and has plenty of life left on the laser. I would estimate the total time that the laser has been fired to be less than an hour (out of the laser’s expected life span of 10,000 hours, according to the Atomstack website). During the time that I DID use the engraver, I was impressed by its performance. I used it to easily cut shapes out of thin (3mm) wood, “print” photographs on wood, and even engrave on a rock (that’s right – this thing can even engrave on STONE) as the photos I attached show. The laser’s output power is rated as 5 to 5.5 watts. It is capable of cutting a very small spot size (0.08mm at the focal point of the beam), so it has the ability to produce extremely finely-detailed output. As mentioned above, the condition is overall very good. The frame is straight and true, and the unit operates 100% as it is supposed to do. The only blemish is a hole in the side of the laser’s aluminum case, which I drilled out to install part of a home-made air assist system. The modification did indeed work: improving the quality of the output when completed; but not 100% as well as I had hoped. So I removed the fitting I installed in the laser’s body (leaving the hole), and purchased and installed a “real” air assist system which was especially designed to use with Atomstack laser engravers. The remaining hole from the initial installation of the “home brew” system doesn’t affect functionality at all, but it is slightly suboptimal as far as aesthetics are concerned (please see the picture of this that I attached). When I obtained this engraver originally, it came in a kit form with assembly required. However, I will be shipping it out fully assembled, so it will be pretty much ready to go out of the box. The following items which came with the laser originally will be included: ● The original 12V 5A power supply brick to power the engraver ● A USB cable for connecting the engraver to a PC (works with Windows or Mac systems) ● The original printed assembly and users’ manual ● Assorted small hand tools which were needed for assembly, but may not be necessary any longer, plus a laser cleaning pen (use with a bit of rubbing alcohol) and a small brush ● One pair of safety glasses to protect the eyes from reflected laser light ● A sheet of stainless steel to place under items being cut, to protect the underlying work surface ● Three small acrylic flat plates which are used to set the proper height of the laser body above the item to be cut/engraved (it isn’t covered very well in the manual, but one of these acrylic plates should be placed between the top of the object being cut and the bottom of the laser body, and then the knurled knob on the laser should be tightened to maintain that height throughout the cutting/engraving process). Additionally, I am including the following extra items which were not part of the original Engraver’s complement, but rather were purchased separately for use with the machine: ● The aforementioned Air Assist system, which is used to improve the quality of the output by blowing heat and smoke away from the laser’s cut line. This also helps to protect the lens on the laser from smoke fouling. This system consists of the following components – o The air pump which connects to the air hose, and associated power supply o The air hose and nozzle which direct the stream of air from the pump properly to the item being worked (all pre-mounted on the machine) o Instructions for the item’s use ● A Laser Engraver Enclosure to facilitate exhausting smoke from the cutting/engraving process outdoors. It is made from a flexible fiberglass fabric over a rigid metal framework, and has a 4” port for attaching to an exhaust fan and hose (the hose and fan are NOT included). The enclosure has a large viewing window (laser light-absorbing for safety) made of a flexible material and zippered to allow easy access to the machine as needed.
