Description: A Fine 19th century Russian Icon depicting Saint Alexis of Moscow and Saint Yevdokiya. Age is estimated pre-1880AD. Unusual to this icon is not only is it on a very thick, 2 inch piece of wood, but it's ROUND. There is paint loss and does need to be given a clear varnish to protect it from further damage. Luckily, most of the damage is to the background of the image, and not to the 2 central figures. Measurements are in the photo. I will be placing a piece of round cardboard directly to the surface and taping it to the sides for transit. This will insure it does not get further banged around during shipment and cause more paint loss. BUT, I cannot guarantee it will not lose a bit more during shipment.
