Description: Antique Oval Raised Wood Picture Art Mirror Frame, Glass, Gilded Gesso Gold Gilt, Painted Grain, 19th Century Ladies, Collectible Wall Art Victorian Décor for Your Wall This antique picture/photo frame measures 14 inches long by 12.25 inches wide. It is designed for an 8 by 10-inch photo or picture. The wood grain on the front of the frame appears to be hand-painted. I believe the decoration on the frame is gilded gesso. I see no maker mark on the frame except possibly some unreadable lettering above and underneath the 8 x 10 on the back of the frame. I believe the lettering underneath says ? ? GILT. The lettering above looks like it might include the number 4. I know nothing about the lovely Victorian ladies in the picture. I believe it is a hand-colored print but could be an original. Looking closely at the background, it does appear to be a pencil sketch that has been colored. I am reluctant to open the frame as this piece has been assembled for 100 years or more and I'm not sure what I might get into. It’s a lovely picture. I see no artist's signature. As you can see from the lighter area from where the picture has shifted, there is significant yellowing. Otherwise, this print is in excellent condition. The glass is in good condition too. Use this frame as it is with the current artwork, or add your own photo or artwork. Perhaps you would like to turn it into a mirror. I have a similar frame and picture for sale here on eBay.
