Given that he adopted the character “康” (Yasu) in his name, he is thought to belong to the Kishu Ishido school originating from Omi. He was likely a student of Kawachi no Kami Yasunaga, who moved to Osaka alongside Bitchu no Kami Tsunahiro, and is considered a peer of Tatara Nagayuki. The blade shows remarkable Utsuri on the steel, with a unique hamon that blends the Choji patterns of the Bizen tradition and the Hitatsura of the Soshu tradition. Its craftsmanship is exceptional, reminiscent of the work of Tatara Nagayuki, who was from the same school. I believe this sword is one of Yasutsuna’s masterpieces. The koshirae features a beautiful lacquered scabbard inlaid with mother-of-pearl, making it a striking display piece. It was polished after passing the NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon certification, so it is in perfect condition.
