Featuring a blue tinted frame with gold edging which nicely compliments the image of a strolling couple in court clothing, they pause in front of a large fountain -- seated courtiers can be seen in the distance. Sporting a long queue, high-heel shoes and even a walking stick, the man is deeply engrossed with his paramour - she flirtatiously holds a fan and wears a bold blue open panel front gown. Back bears the label HANNS PELLAR ~ PARK IN VERSAILLES ~ Photographische Gesellschaft, Charlottenburg 9 -- it is complete with the framers label of RABJOHN & MORCOM, 230 Post St. San Francisco, Calif. The Photographic Society was the first association of photographers in Austria and was founded in Vienna around the early 1860s - the society's purpose was to increase the popularity of photography - Hanns Pellar was an Austrian painter (1886-1971) known for this type of landscape - I believe this print image dates to the 1920s. Condition is very nice with no damage to the image other than minor age related display wear - frame has usage rubs and paint chips - back is complete with dust cover and wire hanger has been replaced with a copper wire.
