Original leatherbinding shows crazing, rubbing and some chipping to the spine face as well as rubs or minor bumps to the outer corners and edges of the boards of the volumes and upper and lower ends of the spines with the upper ends of the spines of volumes 2 and 3 and the lower end of volume 1 with some chipping. Exteriors are very clean. Interiors of the books are bright and sturdy with some scattered foxing lightly throughout and some occasional and minor soiling or finger smudges. Books' original period 19th century bindings are tight and very well intact with hinges and endpapers well intact. Books are complete with all pages present and none coming loose, detached or missing. All four volumes together total 723 pages, measure approximately 7 1/4 x 4 3/8 x 3 5/8 inches and weigh about 3 1/4 pounds.
