Description: FREE POSTAGE IN THE UK Antique, souvenir, brass tea caddy Produced by Lipton's for 2nd half of the British Empire Exhibition in 1925 Registered number 711485 Embossed with the official mark of the exhibition - a stylised lion, designed by F.C.Herrick. It was said to represent the qualities found in the British character - honesty, simplicity and strength The exhibition was opened by King George V on St George's Day (23 April) 1924, and it ran until April 1925. It's official aim was 'to stimulate trade, strengthen bonds that bind Mother Country to her Sister States and Daughters, to bring into closer contact the one with each other, to enable all who owe allegiance to the British flag to meet on common ground and learn to know each other' Tin Lined Some surface marks, scratches and dings, commensurate with age. The tin lining is still present, if a little marked. There are some remains of cleaning product - this could easily be removed.
